Safe Rooms Storm Shelters
Torshel safe room storm shelters are made of heavy-duty steel and are the best tornado safe rooms available in the United States. Our storm shelters are well constructed and properly anchored units that will withstand an EF5 tornado according to engineers and professionals at Texas Tech University. They are the perfect solution for the elderly, people with disabilities, claustrophobics, and clients whose houses have post tension cables in their concrete slabs.
Recently, we tested our shelters to confirm their adherence to safety regulations and performance standards; please refer to our videos to see the remarkable results. All of our products surpass FEMA’s strict guidelines. They come with frame and steel walls designed to withstand an EF5 tornado.
The shelters come with battery-powered lights, but we can add an electrical box, which is secured against a drilled ¾-inch hole in one of the walls.
All our storm safe rooms are grounded for safety reasons by installing a copper rod. We have never heard of anyone being struck by a thunder while being inside the storm shelter. However, if you must use the shelter during a thunderstorm, Torshel recommends standing in the middle of the unit to avoid any contact with the metal structure.
The client is presented with the option of bringing chairs inside the unit, or by having Torshel install two removable wooden benches. The units come with 2 shelves. For an added fee, Torshel can install more shelves as requested by the client.
Our safe room shelters are equipped with four heavy-duty lock pins that fasten the door to ensure your safety.
Are you moving? A storm shelter increases the value of the property, but you can always take it with you. Torshel can remove the anchors, and install your shelter at your new house at an affordable price.
